LGBTQIA+
The fact that we are still fighting for the rights of LGBTQIA+ people in 2025 is unacceptable. Every human being has a degree of sexual and gender fluidity and uniqueness. It is long past time for all of us as human beings to accept and support each other in our humanity which includes our sexuality and gender identity. It is my belief, that the most significant barrier to the rights and fair treatment of gay people, is improper interpretations and exercised beliefs of religion - specifically, in the United States, the religion of the Christian church. I implore any religious person who views being gay as being wrong to, please, change your mind and heart. The hatred of gay people and the hatred of people for their skin color or culture is very closely connected. The argument "hate the sin, not the sinner" is not acceptable. Discrimination of human beings for having normal human characteristics and qualities is unacceptable. This is a societal issue. It must change.
Transsexual people are real and valid. Transgender people are real and valid. Intersex people are real and valid. Nonbinary people are real and valid. The spectrum of human sexuality and gender is real and valid. I see and hear many people talk about issues of sexuality and gender regarding children out of concern for their wellbeing. It is my belief that just like any part of human identity - sexuality and gender should be addressed carefully, thoughtfully, and sensitively with children. Gender and sexuality should be discussed with children just like any other critical part of human identity and development and growth. I am an advocate for healthy communities of people, including parents, families, friends, and caretakers, who support people in the development and understanding of their sexuality and gender and identity. I am also an advocate for mental health services and practitioners to provide additional support in these areas of being human.
